With the outbreak of Kargil war Daily Pudhari's Editor made an appeal to the general public for generous contribution towards ARMY CENTRAL WELFARE FUND and raised an amount of Rs. 2.31 Crores in short span of time. With this amount an Ultra Modern 75 beded Hospital with all modern facilities has been constructed at Hunder in Siachen, to meet the entire medical needs of Armed personnel of this sector. At inaugaral function the Defence Minister SHRI GEORGE FERNANDES said, "THERE CAN NOT BE BETTER GIFT THAN SIACHEN HOSPITAL TO JAWANS OF BHARTIYA SENA" and praised the valuable service rendered by DR. SHRI PRATAPSINH JADHAV to the Nation. The event has received applause across the country through electronic and print media. In addition to this an amount of Rs. 1 Lakh each was donated to the members of Families of Martyrs from this region who laid their life in Kargil War.

It was the time when lot many soldiers were being injured and due to lack of medical facilities and due to bad weather permanent disability or they had to face death. The idea of building Siachen Hospital stuck in the mind of Mr.Pratapsinh Jadhav, Editor Pudhari, during the Kargil was in the year 2000-01 when, the Captain Patil, son of Major General Shivajirao Patil got injured in the battle field of Kargil. He could not lifted from Kargil to Chandigarh by air craft because of the bad climate / weather conditions. When Dr. Jadhav contacted Maj. Gen. Ray at Leh and got the detail information and Capt. Patil was lifted to Chandigarh only after the climate was favourable. Immediately after this episode Mr. Jadhav had a talk with Defence Minister George Fernandes and Maj. General Ray, who told him that there is no medical facility available at Siachen and the injured Soldier is required to lift from Kargil to Chandigarh for first aid and the expenses incurred are also to the tune of 40,000 to 50,000 per soldier and eventhough nobody knows whether he will survive or not.
Since then Dr. Jadhav was very much upset and fixed in his mind to build a State of Art Hospital at the highest battle field of the world Siachen, as so many soldiers of the Army were fighting with lot many causalities due to Weather than the Bullets. Dr. Jadhav studied in detail the problems faced by our Soldiers at Kargil and he came to know that because of the bad climate / weather, the Soldiers suffered from Frost Bite and Pulmonary Edema. After getting all the detailed information from Defence Minister and Maj. General Ray, Dr. Jadhav had a talk with then Defence Minister Mr.George Fernandes, who also accepted the fact briefed by Dr. Jadhav and told Dr. Jadhav that there is no medical facility at Siachinand Siachin needs a State of Art Hospital on war footing.
Dr. Jadhav immediately told Defence Minister that on behalf of Pudhari and the people of Kolhapur, he is ready to build Hospital at Siachen and requested the Defence Minister George Fernandes to come to Kolhapur and handed over the Demand Draft of 2.50 crs and requested Defence Minister to announce that this fund will be utilized only for the purpose of building the hospital at Siachen for Solders. Defence Minister announced in the mass gathering that the funds given by the Pudhari will be utilized for Hospital at Siachen only.

This hospital was erected in a record time by General Ray and his team. Mr. Jadhav was invited by the Defence Minister for the inauguration of this hospital on 18th November, 2001. After the inauguration, during the function arranged by Army, the Defence Minister stated with pride in Hindi that "PUDHARI NE BANAYA HUA YE HASPTAL, BHARTIYA SENA KE LIYE SANJEEVANI HAI".
The inauguration of this hospital got wide publicity in the media and next day during lunch at South Block, the Defence Minister told Dr, Jadhav that he got so many calls from various dignitaries all over the India. While replying to their calls Defence Minister Mr. George Fernandes told them that building the State of Art Hospital at world's highest battle field was the Brain Child of Mr. Pratapsinh Jadhav, Editor Pudhari.
Up-till-now, so many dignitaries have visited the hospital, the then President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam visited to the hospital and praised the work done. As per the feedback and the information received from the Commanding Officer during President's visit, more than 48,000 Soldiers were cured and sent from this Hospital.
This Hospital being at the Highest Battle Field, has gone in to the Limca Book of World Records and the Genius Book of World Records has taken note of this great achievement and is on the verge of enrolling in the Genius Book.
"The Siachen Hospital - My Dream come true" were the words expressed by Dr. Pratapsinh Jadhav, when interviewed by Electroinic Media.

Dr. Yogesh Jadhav, Managing Director and Managing Editor, while proposing vote of thanks, expressed confidence that Modi, who is an icon for young generation, wold take India to a new glorious era In this high tech program where more than 20 thousand elite well wishers of Pudhari were present at the jam packed venue.
    The Newspaper enjoys a distinguished privilege as Late Prime Minister Hon'ble Rajivji Gandhi highly acclaimed the contribution of this Newspaper in nation building on the eve of Golden Jubilee function of Pudhari celebrated at Kolhapur in 1989. Social Contribution of Daily Pudhari

The news paper took up the issues like importance of foundation of a university in Kolhapur and new dam and roads in hilly areas.
